My $20 rice cooker completely changed how I meal prep

Picked up a cheap like 3 cup rice cooker at Target last month on a whim. It steams veggies right on top while the rice cooks, so I make a whole grain bowl in under 20 minutes with zero watching the stove. Has anyone else found a gadget that actually saves time and not just counter space?

@jones.angela wait that dumpling trick is genius - do you drop them frozen right on top of the rice with no extra water or adjustments?

Pretty much exactly this, I've done it a few times and it works great. No need for extra water, the rice absorbs enough moisture that the dumplings steam just right. Just plop them in there for the last five minutes or so of the cook cycle and you're good.

Right, that tiny rice cooker is a sleeper hit. Next level is tossing some frozen dumplings on top of the rice for the last few minutes, they steam perfectly and you get a whole meal with zero extra cleanup.
