Why a piece of cardboard saved my entire work day yesterday
I was at the register at my hardware store helping this guy who wanted to return 45 light bulbs that were clearly used, and the receipt was just an absolute mess of faded thermal paper. I grabbed a scrap of cardboard from the recycling bin to lay the receipt flat and weigh it down so I could actually read the numbers, and it worked better than any fancy tool we have. Has anyone else found a random object around the house that just makes a tough task way easier?

That thing about laying the receipt flat and weighing it down is key, exactly the same reason I keep a thick stack of old magazines under my laptop to get it to the right height. A little extra weight and stability changes everything when you're trying to focus on something fiddly.

Man that's such a good point! I never thought about it that way but yeah, even a little bit of extra weight or stability makes a huge difference when you're doing something that needs steady hands. It's like the little things we do without thinking end up being the real game changers, right?
