Know what you mean, @clark.kelly, but calling it "classic" makes it sound normal... and it shouldn't be. It's just bad management. When someone leaves and their work gets split up without a real plan, it burns people out fast. They hope you won't notice the extra load. Seen it wreck good teams because the stress builds up quietly. It's a short-term fix that causes bigger problems later.
