I stopped taking the last grocery cart from the corral.

For years, I'd grab the one cart left in the corral at my local store, thinking I was doing a favor. Last month, I saw an older woman walk all the way from the entrance to get it, looking tired. Now I leave it there, even if it means I have to walk 50 feet to get another one. It's a tiny thing, but who am I to decide who needs that convenience more? Does anyone else leave the last cart for the next person?

Wait, isn't the whole point of the corral to put carts back? I get the thought, but that last cart sitting there is the one the employee has to go collect. If you take it, they have to bring a whole new line from the store. I always grab the stray one so they have less to gather.

Honestly, I never looked at it that way. I always grabbed the front cart thinking I was helping, but you're totally right. That last cart is the one they're coming for anyway, so taking it just makes more work. I'm switching to your method from now on.

yo ryanh91 i actually just watched a whole video about this from a grocery store worker lol. they said taking the front cart is lowkey the worst move bc it messes up the flow of how they collect them. the last cart in line is the one theyre already heading to grab, so if you take it, they gotta walk all the way back to the store for another one. makes way more sense to leave it and just grab one from deeper in the line if you really wanna help out.
