DAE feel weird about taking the last donut at work meetings?

I used to always grab the last donut without thinking twice, but last month our team lead mentioned someone always misses out when we have 12 people and a dozen. Now I either split it with someone nearby or just leave it. Is that overthinking a free pastry or is there an unspoken rule here?

Saw someone online call it the "last donut dilemma" and now I can't unsee it.

argue that the last donut should go to whoever wants it most, not whoever grabs first. the whole "dilemma" is just people being too nice or too awkward.
