A client pulled out her phone mid-facial to show me a pore strip result

Honestly, I was in the middle of applying a hydrating mask at my station in Portland and she just stops me, whips out her phone, and goes 'look what this pore strip got out of my nose last night.' I almost lost it. I explained that pore strips can damage the skin barrier and cause more sebaceous filaments over time. She got defensive at first but I showed her a before/after from a clay mask client I had 6 months ago. She ended up canceling her next facial though. Anyone else deal with clients undermining your expertise mid-treatment?

Oh great, pulling out phone pics during a facial. That's a new one. Bet she would have shown you her grocery list too if you'd let her.

Nodded along reading this cause it reminds me of how everyone now treats experts like they're just another opinion on Yelp or something. I see it at the climbing gym too, dudes with juggy v8s telling newbies their footwork is wrong when they can't even hold a crimp lmao. People just trust their 5 minute google search over someone who's literally worked on hundreds of faces or whatever.
