Walking through the old co-working space in Denver yesterday, I saw the same whiteboard from our first meetup, still covered in faded marker.
It hit me that the best part of building a network wasn't the deals, but the messy, hopeful energy of those early days when we were all just figuring it out together, so what's one simple thing you did in the beginning that really connected you to other founders?

My buddy used to buy a six pack and just walk around the incubator on Friday afternoons. He'd hand out beers and ask people what broke that week. Got him his first three customers.

Sounds like a fun story but honestly that would NOT fly today. Feels kinda forced and honestly a bit weird to just walk in with beers.

I used to think this kind of thing was just being pushy, but @luna_craig58's example actually makes me see it differently. Handing out beers and just asking what went wrong that week is more about listening than selling, which is kind of smart. It's a low pressure way to learn what people actually need, not just a sales pitch.
