Showerthought: I spent 2 years networking wrong at local meetups

I finally realized I was just handing out business cards and talking about myself the whole time. A guy in Austin last month told me I should ask three questions before even mentioning what I do. Has anyone else had that awkward moment where you looked back and saw how obvious the fix was?

OMG the three questions thing is genius! I had the same wakeup call like a year ago where I realized I was basically just a walking billboard for myself. The shift from "what can I get" to "how can I help" makes such a difference in how people actually remember you. Once you start treating conversations like detective work instead of a sales pitch, everything clicks. That Austin guy might have saved you years of useless small talk honestly.

Love this! My friend tried it at a conference and landed two clients.
