Hot take: 'Kitchen Confidential' had way more to give than I thought
Tbh, I caught a few episodes when it aired and thought it was just okay. After it got pulled, I binged the whole season and saw how much potential it had. Ngl, I really wanted to see Bradley Cooper's Jack Bourdain open his own restaurant and handle the chaos. Honestly, the unresolved storylines still bug me.

I read an interview where the showrunner said they had a whole second season mapped out about Jack trying to open a place in Queens. It was supposed to get into the real ugly side of small business loans and city permits.

Wait, are you telling me the character was just called Jack? That whole time I was sure they called him Jack Bourdain as an open joke. The leather jacket, the bad attitude, the whole messed up chef life thing. They were basically doing Bourdain fan fiction with a network budget. Funny how the brain just fills in what makes sense.

You said Bradley Cooper played Jack Bourdain, but I'm pretty sure the character was just named Jack. They were totally riffing on Anthony Bourdain's whole thing though, which was the fun of it. It's a shame it got canceled right as it was finding its rhythm.
