Took on a 1970s Otis with no prints, learned the hard way

Got a call in Cincinnati last Tuesday for a car that was dropping 6 inches before leveling. With zero schematics in the controller, I traced the selector cam for 4 hours and found a worn roller that felt fine but flexed under load. Anyone else swear by trusting your fingers over the voltage meter on these old units?

Used to be all meter readings and math on those old Otis units, but after a few false calls I learned my fingers tell the truth way faster. That worn roller trick sounds exactly like something you'd only catch by feel, not voltage.
