Swapped out old rail lube for that new synthetic stuff at a job on 5th Ave

Used to swear by the cheap 30 weight oil for guide rails, figured it all did the same thing. Last month I got assigned a high-rise in downtown Portland where the owner demanded we use Kluberplex BEM 34-132. That stuff is stupid expensive, about $80 a tub, but I haven't had to touch the rails in 8 weeks. Anyone else see a real difference with high-end lubricants, or is this just salesman talk?

Heard a story from my buddy Mike who works maintenance over at a big hospital complex. He ran that cheap 30 weight on their elevator rails for years and was constantly out there greasing them up every two weeks. Then the building manager got a bug up his butt about switching to some high end synthetic stuff, can't remember the brand, but Mike said it cost a fortune. He was pissed about it at first, figured it was just a waste of money. But after three months, he said he hadn't even had to look at those rails and the ride was so smooth the nurses actually noticed. What kind of climate you working in? That might make a difference too.
