Showerthought: everyone says start the inspection from the top down but my best fix started from the bottom up

I was working on an old Otis in a 14 story building downtown last Tuesday. The top floor had a weird vibration but I started checking the bottom motor room first because the logs showed a recent cable adjustment. Found the compensator sheave was out of alignment by almost half an inch down there. Fixed that and the top floor vibration disappeared completely. Has anyone else found a bottom up approach actually solves upper level problems better?

Guess I’ve been doing life upside down, my approach is usually wrong-side-out too.

Flip your shirt inside out and wear it backwards, that's what I do on bad days. Actually tried that once with a hoodie and walked around all day looking like a confused mess. Got asked if I was starting a new fashion trend or just having a stroke. At least your life has a pattern, mine's just a jumble of wrong turns and missed exits.
