Rant: I learned so much from old relay systems, but now it's all digital
I mean, back in the day, almost every elevator ran on relay logic. You had to understand how each relay connected and what it did. I spent hours tracing wires to find a single bad contact. Once, I fixed a door that wouldn't close by cleaning a corroded relay in a hospital lift. These days, it's mostly about swapping out digital boards and running software checks. It's faster, but I kind of miss the hands-on fix. Maybe it's just me, but that skill taught me a lot about how things really work.

Tried fixing a digital board once and totally messed it up, so @the_hayden might be right about the magic part.

Ugh, I feel that. Digital stuff is just black box magic sometimes. You miss actually touching the problem.
