Inspecting a 1965 Otis last week, the relay logic had no safety lockout on the mainline disconnect.
I found the manual in a dusty file cabinet at a Cleveland hospital and it said the door interlocks relied on a single spring, so has anyone else run into ancient setups that just shouldn't still be running?

Three springs total across the whole car, or just one on the main door? That seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I’ve seen some brutal old setups, but a single point of failure on a door interlock is nuts. Did the manual show any backup or was it just straight faith in that one spring?
