Spent $475 on a microscope for microsoldering, still not sure it was worth it

I do a LOT of board work, mostly iPhone logic boards and some laptop GPU stuff. Last month I caved and bought a used trinocular microscope with a boom arm off eBay for $475. Honestly, the magnification is great and my hands feel way steadier under it, but the setup took a full weekend to get right. My old loupe and ring light combo was clunky but I knew exactly where everything sat. Now I have to adjust the working distance every time I swap between a thick board and a thin one. Meanwhile a buddy swears by just a good stereo zoom camera on a monitor for half that price. Has anyone else dropped serious cash on a scope and regretted it, or did it actually change your repair game for good? I keep going back and forth on selling it.

Damn, I was gonna say that but my cheap camera setup made me eat my words. Scope wins.

So what specific part of the cheap setup made you second-guess the scope, the mount or the glass itself? Curious if it was a focus issue or just overall softness.
