Hot air rework station was a total gimmick to me, until I watched a guy fix a laptop board in 4 minutes flat
Ngl, I swore by soldering irons and thought reflow stations were overpriced toys, but seeing one revive a dead GPU connector in under 5 minutes at a shop in Newark made me drop $180 on a proper unit, anyone else have a tool they mocked at first?

Same thing happened to me with a cheapo heat gun from Harbor Freight. I laughed at my buddy for buying one, figured it was just a hair dryer with a fancy nozzle, then he used it to shrink some heat shrink tubing on a car amp and I was hooked. Next thing I know I'm using it to soften up stubborn phone adhesive and loosen rusted bolts instead of torching everything with a propane setup. The heat gun does 90% of what a reflow station does for like $25, which still blows my mind. It's wild how a tool you write off can end up being the first thing you grab when a job goes sideways.
