Spent 4 hours on a Friday night tracing a phantom voltage in a 1970s Chicago bungalow.
It was a loose neutral on a backstabbed outlet behind a massive china cabinet. Anyone have a good trick for testing those without moving a ton of furniture?

Man, a non-contact voltage tester is your best friend for that exact situation.

Those testers give false positives way too often. I've seen them beep on dead wires just from leftover static. A multimeter is the only way to be sure.
