Overheard a guy at the supply house say mudding is 90% cleanup

Tbh I was grabbing some tape and corner beads this morning and this old timer was telling the counter guy that half the job is just keeping your tools clean and your mixer bucket spotless. It hit me hard because I've spent so many jobs fighting dried chunks in my pan or a stiff brush that ruins my finish. Has anyone else found a trick to keeping your hawks from getting crusty mid-job?

Keep a spray bottle of water handy and hit your hawk every few minutes.

Respectfully, @nancy824, I gotta disagree a bit. Water might distract your hawk for a second, but it doesn't teach them to stop the behavior when you're not holding the bottle. I've found redirecting with a glove or a perch change works better long term, since the bird learns what you want instead of just getting annoyed for a few minutes. Have you ever tried a food reward after they stop the screaming on their own?
