Blew a hole in a 12-foot ceiling in Portland last week because my drywall lift slipped

The ratchet strap gave out right as I was screwing off the last edge, sent my sheet crashing through a light fixture hole, and now I'm stuck patching a 3-foot gash before the homeowner gets back from vacation tomorrow, has anyone else had a lift fail on them mid-install?

Bet your drywall lift wasn't the real problem...

You gotta be careful with that take. I've seen plenty of jobs go south because the lift was acting up or the wrong size for the ceiling height. Sure, sometimes it's user error or bad planning, but equipment can definitely throw a wrench in things. A wobbly lift or one that doesn't extend right can make a simple job a nightmare. Just saying, don't rule out the tool being the issue too quick.

Wait, @julia_jones72, you've got a point there.
