Switched from manual drafting to CAD for good after a 3-day deadline disaster
I used to swear by hand drafting for all my small residential projects, thought it gave me more control. But last fall I had a 1,200 sq ft house plan due in 3 days and my pencil snapped mid-detail on a stair section. Grabbed a trial of DraftSight out of pure panic and finished the whole thing in 8 hours with no eraser marks. Now I only pull out the drafting board for quick rough sketches. Anyone else find that one emergency that made you switch tools for good?

Did you find it hard to get back to hand drafting after that? My moment was when I had to redo a full set of plans because of ONE smudge on a stair section, and I've barely touched a pencil since.

Ngl, that smudge story hurts just reading it. I had a similar thing happen with a set of electrical plans once, coffee ring right through the kitchen layout. Took me four hours to trace a fresh sheet. That CAD emergency really opens your eyes to how much time gets wasted on paper do-overs. Now I use hand sketches for quick ideas then jump straight to the software for anything serious. Never going back to those smudge and eraser days.
