The podcast I laughed at for months finally won me over
My daughter kept sending me links to a true crime podcast called 'Cold Cases' and I figured it was just people gossiping about old murders. After she played the first 15 minutes of an episode about a 1972 disappearance in our town, I ended up listening to all 8 episodes in three days. Has anyone else had a hobby or interest they dismissed for years only to find out it was actually pretty good?

You got me on this one... I've got a different take though. True crime podcasts rub me the wrong way, honestly. They turn real people's worst days into entertainment, and the families have to watch strangers pick apart every detail for fun. The 1972 case you mentioned I know about too, and I remember when that happened, it was all over the news. Your daughter probably means well, but it feels weird to laugh at something that's about someone's missing relative. Not judging you, just... I don't think I could ever get into that stuff myself. Let the sleeping dogs lie, you know.

Come on now, it's not that deep. News channels do the exact same thing on a slow Tuesday night. They drag out old cases, bring in talking heads, milk the tragedy. At least podcasts are honest about being entertainment. People have been rubbernecking at tragedy since forever, it's human nature. Nobody's laughing at the victim, they're laughing at how bad the cops messed up the investigation. That's fair game.
