Thought swapping a bathroom faucet was a 45 minute job, it turned into a whole Saturday
The shutoff valve under the sink in our upstairs bathroom was frozen solid, so I had to kill water to the whole house and cut the old pipe out. That meant a trip to the hardware store in Ames for a new valve plus about an hour of crawling under the sink with a tiny tube cutter. Total time from start to leak free was 7 hours, and my back still hurts. Curious if anyone else has found a way to loosen a stuck shutoff without just replacing it.
Oh man, been there with the frozen valve and the whole house shutoff. My version of "loosening" it usually means spraying some penetrating oil on it, waiting, then rounding off the handle anyway and giving up. Pretty sure my sink cabinet has seen more of me than my couch has this year.
