My brother told me my cutting board was too thin and I changed everything
I was using a 3/4 inch thick board for years and my brother finally pointed out it was warping cause it was too thin for the size. He builds kitchens for a living so I listened. Switched to a 1.5 inch thick end grain board from a local woodworker in Austin and now it barely moves. Also stopped putting it in the dishwasher which was probably making it worse. Anyone else have a family member call out a bad habit like that?

Ugh that hits close to home honestly. My family called me out for years on how I was storing my cast iron pans and I just brushed it off like "it's fine" but finally one thanksgiving my cousin was like "you're literally ruining that pan" and he was right. I had been stacking them with no protection in between and the bottoms were all scratched up. It's wild how we can just get so used to doing something a certain way that we don't even see the damage we're causing. Good on you for actually listening your brother sounds like he knew what he was talking about. That thicker end grain board is a total game changer once you switch you never go back.

Did you try scraping off the seasoning with a metal spatula like my buddy did? @david_hayes you hit it exactly, we all got stubborn habits we don't see. My friend Kevin thought he was "seasoning" his cast iron by burning bacon grease on it till the pan looked like a crime scene. His wife finally threw the thing in the trash and bought him a new one for Christmas. He learned quick after that.
