Hot take: I painted my kitchen cabinets and now I kinda miss the ugly oak
Spent 2 weekends sanding, priming, and painting 22 cabinet doors in my kitchen and they came out looking like a factory finish, which I was super proud of. Problem is now every fingerprint, grease splash, and crumb shows up like a neon sign because I went with a satin white instead of something with more texture. My wife said it looks like a showroom and I honestly can't tell if that was a compliment. Also learned the hard way that you can't just wipe them down with a wet rag or you get streaks, you need a microfiber cloth and even then it's a whole thing. Anyone else pick paint color for looks and regret it once real life hit the surface?
When you said "I can't tell if that was a compliment" I felt that in my soul. I used to be all about that crisp, clean look and thought people who complained about white kitchens were just messy. Then we got white countertops and I spent six months wiping them down like a crazy person, spotting every single coffee drip from across the room. My whole view changed after that. Now I tell anyone who asks to get something with a pattern or a little warmth to it. Life is too short to treat your kitchen like a museum.
