PVC drain pipe snapped under my bathroom sink for no reason
I was just grabbing a towel from under the sink last Tuesday and caught my arm on the drain pipe. The thing literally crumbled into pieces when I barely touched it. Turns out those cheap plastic trap pipes they sell at the big box stores get brittle after a few years from the chemicals and heat. Water sprayed EVERYWHERE before I could shut the valve off. Took me three trips to the hardware store to get the right fittings because nothing matched up right. Ended up replacing the whole section with a braided flexible hose setup that cost me about $35. Has anyone else had those white plastic pipes just fall apart like that?

Man those white plastic pipes are COMPLETE garbage, I had the exact same thing happen to me last year. The cheap PVC they use just gets super brittle over time from all the hot water and random chemicals we pour down the sink.

That brittle stuff is a nightmare, I ended up replacing ours with the gray schedule 80 and it hasn't cracked since.
