Why I stopped using my real email for grocery loyalty cards

I got tired of getting spam from every brand I bought once, so I tried using a disposable email for my Kroger Plus card. Worked fine for 6 months until I couldn't get a digital coupon to load at checkout from my phone. Had to reset the whole account and now I use a separate Gmail just for store stuff. Anyone else run into issues when they try to mask their identity at the register?

Did you try using Gmail's plus trick? I do that for all my store accounts now. Just add +kroger to your regular email address before the @ sign. Like yourname+kroger@gmail.com. The store sees it as a unique email but everything still lands in your main inbox. I can filter those into a separate folder if they start getting spammy. Been working for me for like 2 years now with no coupon problems or account lockouts. Way simpler than managing a whole separate login.
