TIL my phone's location history had a log of every place I stopped since 2021 and I deleted it in 10 minutes
I used to leave location services on for everything because the maps app was handy and I figured nobody cared where a pressure washer grabbed lunch. Then last March I pulled up my Google timeline out of boredom and saw it had every stop logged, down to 4 minutes at a gas station off I-75 near Flint. That's when it hit me that this thing had a full diary of my life from 2021 on, and I never once said yes to keeping it. I turned off location history for the whole account and wiped the saved data, then went through and killed background access for 14 apps I barely open. My maps are a little dumber now and I don't care. Who else has actually gone in and nuked their timeline, and did anything break for you after?
