That cashier at the grocery store who remembered my loyalty number

I stopped at a Safeway in Portland last month and this older lady just punched in my phone number from memory after I hadn't been there in like 2 years. Killed me a little thinking how many apps track every single move I make and she just remembered a random customer's digits.

Admit I used to think it was kinda creepy when cashiers remembered regulars like that. But after hearing this I realized how natural and human it actually is compared to all the invisible tracking we deal with. Makes me wonder if a little old school memory is actually a good thing in this world.

Actually, Safeway's loyalty program tracks purchases by phone number too.
