Showerthought: I swore that rewards app was selling my location until I checked the fine print
I downloaded a gas station rewards app back in March and my phone started showing me ads for a tire shop two blocks from my apartment. I was sure it was tracking everywhere I went, so I almost deleted it. Then I actually read the permissions and turned off "precise location" while leaving "approximate" on. The weird ads stopped that same week, so now I'm torn on whether these apps are shady or if I was just lazy about settings. Did anyone else fix a privacy scare with a single toggle, or am I giving them too much credit here?
