Warning: I used to trust coffee shop wifi like it was my own router - big mistake
Used to hop onto any open network at cafes in Medellin, Bangkok, wherever. Did that for like 2 years. Then last month in Chiang Mai, I checked my bank and saw $600 gone to some random wire transfer. No clue how they got my info but ngl, I was logging into my bank on those public networks all the time. Now I run a VPN on my phone 24/7 and tether off that instead of connecting to coffee shop wifi at all. Has anyone else had a close call with public wifi? What do you use instead?

@young.spencer that's probably the most accurate way to put it lmao. People make dumb choices and then act surprised when the consequences hit them. Some lessons just cost more than others I guess lol. At least they got the lesson out of the way early instead of repeating it.
