My work focus in Bali went from scattered to sharp after I ditched my phone for the first 3 hours each day.
I started this 4 weeks ago and my project output has nearly doubled. What's the biggest single change you've made to your daily routine that actually stuck?

Wow, that's a huge jump in output. I actually tried something similar but found a full three hours first thing was too much for me. I switched to just the first 90 minutes with no phone, and that's what finally stuck. What made you pick three hours to start with?

Three hours felt like the right block to get deep work done before the world woke up. I mean, @blake_cooper's 90-minute version is probably smarter for most people though. I just needed that extra time to stop my brain from jumping to emails first thing.

Man, that's wild how much of a difference it makes. @blake_cooper, I hear you on the 90 minute version being the sweet spot. I tried the full three hours too, but my brain just couldn't handle it. I ended up settling on a two hour block with the phone in another room. The first hour is always pure chaos of trying to remember what I was even doing, but that second hour is like a superpower.
I've been doing it for about six weeks now and my output is way cleaner. No more starting my day by scrolling through some random post or getting sucked into emails. It's just me and the work until my coffee gets cold. Definitely the best thing I've done for focus in years.
