Met a digital nomad in Chiang Mai who taught me one thing about burnout

I was sitting in a coworking space near the old city three weeks ago, grinding through client work at 11 PM. This older guy, maybe 50, just sat down across from me and said 'you look like you're running from something, not to something.' He told me he's been nomadic for 8 years and never works past 5 PM. I blew it off at first, but the next day I saw him playing guitar at a park at noon. Now I'm trying his rule of zero work after dinner. Has anyone else run into random advice that actually fixed their routine?

Wait, so this guy just walked up to you at 11 PM and called you out like that? That takes some guts. I'd be pretty weirded out if a stranger told me I looked like I was running from something, honestly. But then you saw him playing guitar at noon the next day, that's what gets me. That's the kind of detail that makes you stop and think, like maybe he's actually onto something real. I've had people give me random advice before but it was always stuff like try this protein powder, not a whole life philosophy. It's wild how one small moment can flip your whole perspective on work.

Yeah that hits hard. I needed to hear that too honestly.
