My whole portfolio file corrupted right before a gallery showing
I was at my studio in Phoenix finalizing a 30-piece series for a local digital art showcase when my main hard drive failed, taking all the high-res Procreate files with it. I had to pull an all-nighter using a 6-month-old backup and redo about half the work from scratch. Has anyone else had a major tech disaster right before a big event and what backup system saved you?

Ugh, that's brutal. I used to think cloud backups were a waste of money, just extra hassle. Then my laptop got stolen with a year's worth of design sketches. Now I have my stuff saved in three places: an external drive, my computer, and a cloud service. It feels like overkill until the moment you really need it.

That's the universe testing your commitment to the craft. At least you had a backup, even if it was ancient. My old system was so bad I'd have just shown up with a sad PowerPoint.

Backup horror stories are the worst. My buddy once lost his entire wedding video footage to a bad memory card.
