Warning: that $200 'commercial grade' floor buffer I rented was a total scam

I rented a floor buffer from a place on Gratiot for $200 over the weekend to strip and wax my office lobby, and the pad kept slipping off after 10 minutes of use. Anyone else run into rental gear that's just not worth the money around Detroit?

Try tightening the center nut with a wrench before you start, those rental places never crank them down right. Idk if yours came with the rubber washer on the drive block but if it's missing that'll cause the slippage too.

Wait, wouldn't over-tightening it strip the threads on a rental unit?
