Spent a whole afternoon tracking down a simple drain issue at my shop

I run a small commercial cleaning crew in Detroit and we had this one restaurant sink that would back up every Thursday like clockwork. I figured it was grease buildup or something major so I kept calling the plumber out only for them to say nothing was wrong. After the 4th visit and $320 in service fees, I finally decided to watch the whole cycle myself. Turned out the manager was dumping old coffee grounds down there and they were settling just right to clog it weekly. Showed him the bucket trick and it hasn't backed up since. Has anyone else dealt with a recurring problem that turned out to be something simple like someone not following the rules?

Watched my neighbor spend $600 on a "mystery leak" in his truck before realizing the ice maker line was just barely dripping down the wall when the fridge ran. Dude had the plumber and a drywall guy in there cutting holes for nothing. Sometimes it's just someone being lazy or dumb and you end up paying for their stupidity. Coffee grounds in a sink though, that's a classic. Manager probably thought he was being helpful by not throwing them in the trash.

Yeah "someone being lazy or dumb" is pretty much the story of every fix-it nightmare I've ever had.
