Question about loading my dishwasher wrong for 6 years
My wife pointed out last Tuesday that I put all the plates in facing the same way, and the water just bounces off them. She pulled one out after a full cycle and there was still dried pasta sauce stuck to it, which was gross because I had been eating off those plates for years. Now I stand there in front of the open door trying to remember which way the spray arm spins. Does anyone have a trick for loading plates so they actually get clean, or do I just need to read the manual like a chump?
The water just bounces off them. That is a beautiful way to describe six years of wasted effort. I love that your wife waited until a full cycle, pulled out a plate still wearing last week's pasta sauce, and that was the moment of truth. Here is the thing that nobody tells you. The spray arm spins, so it does not matter which way you face the plates as long as they are tilted toward the center where the water hits. What actually kills you is nesting them tight together like books on a shelf, because then nothing reaches the middle. Leave a little air between each one and lean them back a bit so the water can run off, and you will be fine without ever opening that manual.
