Unpopular opinion: password managers still freak me out a bit
I mean, I've been using one for about 8 months now after my buddy kept pushing me to try it. He showed me how many of my old passwords were reused across like 30 different sites and I honestly felt dumb. But there's still this nagging voice in my head that says what if someone cracks my master password and then they have everything. I know the encryption is supposed to be solid but idk, putting all my eggs in one basket makes me nervous. Has anyone else felt this way and gotten over it or do you still keep some passwords in your head?

So your friend told you 30 reused passwords? That sounds about right honestly. I went through mine with a password manager and found over 40 accounts using the same email and password combo. It was pretty embarrassing. But yeah, that master password fear is real. I spent like a week coming up with mine and I still type it in slow every time just to be sure. I read something about hackers targeting LastPass a while back and that scared me too. But I figure if I pick a strong enough master password and turn on two factor authentication, I'm probably safer than I was before.

Read something about hackers going after the password managers themselves now.

There was that big LastPass breach back in 2022 where their dev environment got hit and some encrypted vaults got taken. The scary part is it took months for the full details to come out. Bitwarden had a security issue in 2023 too with a browser extension vulnerability. I figure any service that stores a bunch of private keys in one place is a target, but most of these companies have bug bounty programs and do regular audits. Two factor and a long random master password are probably the best defense.
