Tried a password manager migration and lost half my logins

I spent this weekend moving from LastPass to Bitwarden after all that breach news. Thought I did everything right by exporting my vault as a CSV and importing it, but about 40 out of my 180 saved logins got corrupted with blank usernames and scrambled passwords. Had to reset passwords for three bank accounts and my old gaming forum from 2018. Anyone else run into problems when switching password managers?

Stick with the manual export option next time, CSV files can be flaky with special characters and long passwords. I had the same issue moving from Dashlane and lost about 30 entries, but I found that doing a direct vault-to-vault sync through the Bitwarden importer cleaned things up better than the CSV route. Did you try the import tool again with a fresh export from LastPass?

@abbychen nailed it. CSV exports are just asking for trouble, especially with all the symbols in modern passwords.
