Realized my old router was wide open after a friend showed me how to check the admin login panel...

I went into 192.168.0.1 after they mentioned default passwords and found my neighbors had been piggybacking on my wifi for like 6 months, has anyone else ever checked their router settings?

Did you check if they changed any of your settings while they were in there? I had a similar thing happen and found someone had been using my router for torrents, which can actually get you in trouble with your ISP. Change the admin password too, not just the wifi one, because if they know how to get into the panel they can mess with your DNS settings or even factory reset it when you're not home. Also might be worth checking if your router has a guest network option, that way you can give people access without giving them the main password.

Wait, you didn't know your router was wide open? That's like leaving your front door unlocked for six months and then being surprised someone walked in and ate all your snacks. I once checked mine and found some neighbor was using it to stream really weird soap operas at 3am. The worst part is you probably slowed their connection down half the time when you were trying to watch cat videos. Hope you changed the password to something like "IseeYouBobby" just to send a message.
