I thought my old password system was clever, but a talk at a library in Boise changed my mind completely.
The speaker showed how a simple phrase like 'MyDogRexLovesThePark2024!' is way stronger and easier to remember than my old method of swapping letters for symbols in a short word.

That library talk in Boise is missing a key point. If you use a short, complex password that's truly random, not based on a word like "Tr0ub4dor," it can be just as strong. The real problem @jordanb80 is that most people reuse their easy-to-remember phrase across every single site. When one site gets hacked, that long phrase is now in a leak for hackers to try everywhere else. A unique, gibberish password stored in a manager for each site is safer than one master phrase you use for your bank and your pizza delivery account.

I used to make passwords like P@ssw0rd123 because they looked secure. That blog post about "correct horse battery staple" totally changed my mind. Now I just use a manager to make long random ones for each site.

Read a blog post that broke down why length beats complexity every time. They used the example "Tr0ub4dor&3" versus "correct horse battery staple." The first one looks strong but a computer cracks it fast. The second is just four random words and is way harder to guess. Makes you rethink everything, right?
