Shoutout to the Comcast rep who actually fixed my problem

Everyone online says you have to threaten to cancel to get help, but I just calmly explained my internet kept dropping for 5 minutes every hour. The guy ran a new line test, found a fault at the pole, and had a tech out the next day. Has anyone else had a good experience just by being polite first?

Yeah I saw an article that said most reps actually have more power to help than we think, but they get so many angry calls that a calm person stands out. It makes sense they'd go the extra mile when someone isn't yelling at them. My cousin works in a call center and says the first thing they do is check if the customer has been nice or rude on past calls. Starting polite just seems like the smart move, you know? Have you noticed if being calm gets you better service in other places too?

That part about checking if a customer was nice on past calls really hit me. I used to think being firm and a bit pushy was the only way to get things done with customer service. But you're totally right, and your cousin's inside info proves it. Now I make a real effort to start calm and polite, even when I'm frustrated. It's crazy how often a simple "I know this isn't your fault" gets me transferred to someone with actual power to fix my problem. I had to learn the hard way that yelling just gets you the bare minimum.
