Remember when you could call a store and a person would just pick up?
Had to call the hardware store in town last week about a special order. Got stuck in that automated loop for ten minutes, pressing buttons just to hear 'I'm sorry, I didn't get that.' Finally got a human, but it felt like a victory. Makes me miss the old family-run place where you'd just ask for Frank. Anyone else feel like you have to fight the phone system before you even get to your problem?

Honestly, it's just a phone menu. We waste more time scrolling on our phones every day. Sure, it's a small pain, but calling it a "fight" feels a bit much. The old way was nice, but getting a person in a couple minutes is still pretty normal service.

Forget the phone menu, it's the bad voice recognition that kills me. You just end up yelling "representative" at your steering wheel. That's the part that makes a simple call feel like a battle.

Ugh, totally. That voice recognition is the worst part, like @clark.claire said. I just start mashing zero. Last time I had to call my bank, it straight up hung up on me after three tries. Felt like the machine just gave up.
