Can we talk about that 14 dollar online return fee scam?

I ordered a pair of boots from a company I never used before. They sent the wrong size and wanted 14 bucks to print a return label. I called and the guy tried to tell me that's just how they do business. I told him I'd just dispute it with my card instead. Suddenly they waived the fee and emailed a free label. Has anyone else had to fight a company just to return something they messed up?

Ngl, you did the right thing threatening a chargeback. That's the only language some companies understand. I'd also take screenshots of your order confirmation showing the size you picked, just in case they try something later.

I don't know about that being the "only language" some companies understand @elizabeth220... sometimes being firm but polite works better than immediately jumping to threats. Charging back can get your account blacklisted with some retailers, which sucks if you actually like their stuff. Better to escalate slow and let them know you're frustrated before pulling out the big guns.
