Pro tip: that load chart on your crane might be lying to you

I was running a 50 ton Terex on a job in Columbus last spring, moving some pretty heavy steel beams. A senior operator from another crew walked over and pointed out I was reading the chart at 70 degrees instead of 65 for my radius. Turns out I had been misreading the angle column for almost 3 years. Has anyone else caught a mistake like that in their own setup routines?

MAN that's a scary one! Nobody ever warns you how the GROUND conditions underneath your outriggers can throw off the whole chart, like if you're on asphalt over dirt that's been softened by rain it can settle an inch or two during a pick and suddenly your radius is completely different. Always gotta crib those pads right and check the level after the first few lifts because the chart assumes a perfect solid surface underneath you.

Hell yeah, been there. Soft ground under my outriggers made a boom truck shift once.
