My microwave popcorn turned into a smoke detector concert last night, took me 45 minutes to air out the kitchen

I've popped bags for years but this one bag from a new brand burnt in under 90 seconds, the smoke alarm went off at 11pm and my neighbor pounded the wall. Has anyone else had a bag go from zero to black just because the power setting was one notch too high?
