Went from full analog prepper to hybrid tracker after a Vegas blackout

Back in 2019 I had binders of printed maps and a solar crank radio, but that blackout in Vegas last June showed me how fast paper gets outdated when cell towers go down too. Now I keep a cheap GPS unit in my car plus a laminated local map, and I test my backup power once a month instead of just assuming it works. The shift happened after my neighbor lost his whole emergency stash to a flooded basement, so I moved mine to plastic totes on shelves 18 inches off the floor. Anyone else swap out their old prepping system after a real event or close call, or am I the only one who learned the hard way?

Skip the gear for a second and think about your neighbors, half the people on your street won't have a plan and that's the real gap you should be filling.
