Walked into a server room at a local library yesterday and saw a mess

Found a server rack packed so tight with old hardware that the intake fan was completely blocked, temps were reading 98 degrees. How do you guys handle situations where nobody's touched the setup in years and you have to decide what's safe to leave or move?

So you're really gonna touch a setup that's been running hot for years? That thing is probably holding itself together with dust and good intentions. Moving anything could be what finally breaks it and makes the whole thing crash during story hour.

A setup running hot that long is basically stress-tested already. If it hasn't died yet under full load, a gentle dusting and reseating a cable isn't going to be the thing that tips it over. Worst case, you find out a fan is completely clogged now instead of in the middle of summer when kids are watching a movie.
