Just realized the 'turn it off and on again' thing for printers is actually a real fix
For years I thought it was just a dumb joke, like a lazy way to avoid real work. I had this client last month with a fancy office printer that kept saying 'paper jam' even when it was empty. I spent two hours taking the whole thing apart, checking every roller and sensor. I was about to order a new fuser assembly for like $300 when the office manager walked by and said, 'Did you try unplugging it for a minute?' I gave her the look, you know? But I was out of ideas, so I did it. Pulled the power cord, counted to sixty, and plugged it back in. The thing booted up and printed a test page like nothing ever happened. I felt like an idiot. It's been a solid month now with no call back. Has anyone else had a simple reboot fix something you were sure was a major hardware fault?

I read a tech blog that said over 60% of printer support calls are solved by a power cycle. The writer explained that the memory in those things gets clogged with old job data, and a full restart clears the buffer. It's wild how often the simplest fix is the right one.

What about trying a full power drain next time? Unplug it, then hold the power button down for 30 seconds to clear any leftover charge in the capacitors. That often fixes the stubborn electronic ghosts a simple reboot misses.
