Everybody raves about silent trains but I actually hate how quiet the new ones are

Rode the new light rail cars on the 16th street line in Denver yesterday and I swear I missed my stop because there's no engine noise or conductor announcements anymore. Old trains had that rumble that let you feel when you were slowing down. Now it's just sudden silence and you gotta look up and guess. Am I the only one who doesn't want to stare at my phone the whole time waiting for a map to tell me where I'm at?

Missed my stop twice last week because the new trains slip in so smooth there's zero warning. The old rumble and clatter was like a built-in GPS for your backside. Now I just sit there staring out the window like a lost tourist.

That "built-in GPS for your backside" is such a perfect way to put it - do you think the designers even ride these things?
