TIL that my comic book hobby helped me land a new job
During a job interview, I mentioned organizing our local comic book swap meets. The hiring manager was SUPER impressed with how I handled logistics and crowd control. Now I'm starting a new role where those skills are a big deal. I always thought my fandom was just for fun, but it actually made a REAL difference.

I ran our town's comic swap for ten years before anyone saw it as a real skill. People just see the boxes of books, not the planning it takes to get fifty vendors and hundreds of people through a church hall. That stuff is pure project management. Why do we act like learning only happens in an office? Your story proves that the best practice for a job often happens outside of work. That manager was smart to see the real work behind your hobby.

Fifty vendors in a church hall needs serious coordination. You did that for a decade. That is pure project management, no doubt. People often ignore the skill in hobbies. They think only office jobs teach real things. But your story shows the opposite. Managers should look at what people do outside work more.

Sounds like a stretch to call that real work, @owens.nancy.
